[SAUGERTIES, NY] HITS, Inc. is pleased to announce Samuel Price’s “Cunningham” as the cover art for the 2013 HITS Thermal Official Show Program.

Samuel Price is a self taught artist based in San Francisco, California who believes in the use of accessible materials to create art and to use everyday items as a valuable means of expression.

“My technique is called collage or photo-montage, and requires many hours of assembling, cutting and pasting hundreds of tiny paper pieces onto canvas to create a finished work of art, such as ‘Cunningham’,” said Price. “The horse’s name is Cunningham who is owned by Mary Slouka and ridden by John Bragg. HITS is a perfect venue for me to exhibit some of my newest and favorite dog and horse collage portraits to members of the show jumping world.”

In 2010, Price was the featured artist at the 40th Annual Menlo Charity Horse Show in Menlo Park, California, which introduced his collage artwork to the equestrian community. Shortly thereafter, Price’s artwork was displayed in Vendor Row at the first U.S.hosted World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky. Price will be a vendor at HITS Thermal during Million Dollar Weekend March 12-17, 2013.

“I am proud to be exhibiting some of my newest dog and horse collage portraits at HITS, and look forward to meeting the great riders and fans competing at this new, exciting event. It is a great honor to be shown on the cover of this year’s HITS Thermal Program cover,” Price added.

In February, Price’s art will also be featured on the cover of BAYWOOF Magazine, the bay area’s leading dog periodical.

The HITS Thermal circuit is underway in California and boasts seven weeks of competition, welcoming riders of all levels. Aside from offering qualifying opportunities for the popular HITS Championship Weekend in Saugerties, New York, HITS will also introduce the all-new AIG Thermal $1 Million Grand Prix, presented by Lamborghini Newport Beach, Sunday, March 17, and is sure to attract the best horses and riders on the West Coast.
