What better excuse is there to don fabulous hats and socialize fieldside than the Square Peg Foundation’s annual Run for the Roses Fundraiser? Held this past Saturday at the Menlo Circus Club in Atherton, CA, the fundraiser raises awareness for the Square Peg Foundation’s adaptative riding and horsemanship program, and its efforts to rescue unwanted horses. Based in Half Moon Bay, the Square Peg Foundation brings people who need horses, and horses who need people together in a nurturing, supportive environment. The Menlo Polo Club held an exciting exhibition polo match during the event, which took place under the shade of fieldside tables at the historic Menlo Circus Club. At 3:30pm, attendees gathered to watch the televised Kentucky Derby, betting on the winner in a calcutta. Attention then turned back to the polo field for the conclusion of the match. All in all, it was a picture perfect day at one of Northern California’s most treasured equestrian venues.
